Don’t Fret About MASTODON’s New Song Being Removed From Soundcloud.

Yesterday Lane posted about the new Mastodon song only to check later and find that it had been taken off of Soundcloud. Well, don’t fret because I have two solutions for you. a.) You can listen to the song above or b.) Shell out $1.29 and buy the song from iTunes. Yeah, it’s a single, it’s on iTunes. Everything is on iTunes. Regardless of how you choose to listen to “Black Tongue,” make sure you do it because this song seriously rips. It’s a great step forward for Mastodon, a little new and a little old mixed together. I dig it. So yeah, check out the track. If you wanna read more about the album, go here.

New BLOTTED SCIENCE Teaser! Get Some!

Ron Jarzombek is a fucking insane person. I don’t understand how his mind can encode and decode such technical musicianship. Blotted Science’s Machinations of Dementia came out in 2007 and decimated all. That record took progressive metal to a new level. I think we talked about new Blotted Science earlier this year, but I could be wrong. Well, if you’re antsy for new Blotted, you can now hear a two minute sample of what is to come off of their new EP, The Animation of Entomology over at Ron Jarzombek’s Soundcloud page. I just finished listening to it, and personally I don’t think the guys have lost anything in the four years since they’ve put out material. They’ve also gained a new drummer, Obscura’s Hannes Grossmann. This new EP should be pretty fantastic, if I say so myself. The tracklist can be seen below as well as the link to download the video teaser. Check it out and leave some feedback. What do you think? The Animation of Entomology is due out this Fall.

Exclusive Interview: SOURVEIN’s T-Roy Medlin

Sourvein is a band that has been ripping up the sludge community for many years now. I have been a fan of this band for a long time, so when the opportunity came up for me to interview Sourvein’s main man, T-Roy Medlin, I jumped at it. I was stoked to get a chance to interview this guy. He is an amazing musician (he also does work with Hail! Hornet and formerly worked with Buzzov*en in a live setting) and I can’t thank him enough for this interview. ~R. Gnarly//Dig It or Die.

Can you introduce yourself? What is your name and what do you do in the band?
I am T-Roy,  the singer. I am from Cape Fear.

Morning Jams: THOU & BLACK SEPTEMBER

Yesterday I returned home from work and, to my excitement, I had a package waiting on my doorstep. This package contained the three 7”s I had recently ordered. I bought Howling Void, Caustic Christ and the Thou/Black September split. I was excited for all three of these, especially the split. I have been a fan of Thou and Black September for quite some time, so when I received the clear-red vinyl yesterday, I was very pleased. It sounds amazing and so this morning’s playlist is dedicated to Thou and Black September. I couldn’t find the tracks on the split on YouTube, so I just chose random songs that I like by the bands. Still fantastic. Also, Thou is streaming their new EP over at MetalSucks. Go check it out. Enjoy!
