ARGONAUTS Are Coming, And They Are Leaving Jason Behind

In a recent post from The Prp, former members of The Dillinger Escape Plan and Burnt By the Sun and a member of East of the Wall are joining forces in a project they have named Argonauts. The lineup is as follows:

Vocals – Dimitri Minakakis (ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Guitars – John Adubato (ex-Burnt By The Sun)
Bass – Brett Bamberger (East Of The Wall)
Drums – Dave Witte (Municipal Waste/ex-Burnt By The Sun

This looks like it could be very promising and it would be nice to hear Dimitri’s chaotic yells once again. I have provided links to the original post below as well as a link to their Facebook page so you can keep updated on the band when they make information available. I have also provided a song from each band in case you are unfamiliar with them.

AN AUTUMN FOR CRIPPLE CHILDREN: Fantastic Band With a Fantastic Name.

Do you know of this band? I didn’t until I heard the name mentioned on Death or No Death (a game show featured on Metal Injection’s Livecast). When I first heard the name, I immediately thought it was fake, I mean, that name is just too good. But, no! It was real and when I finally listened to the band, I loved it. The band’s sound is a depressing, experimental brand of black metal. Think Totalselfhated meets So Hideous, My Love… or Castevet. It is truly a brilliant sound.

I talk about this band because I recently got my dirty little hands on their upcoming album, Everything. Everything is the follow-up to the bands 2010 album Lost. Man, does this band work fast. Two album in two years is a stretch for any metal band nowadays, I think. And guess what? Everything is as good, if not better than Lost. I have listened to the album quite a few times and I love it, but I have yet to review it and make my final decision, although I think that will be coming soon. So, if you have yet to hear the awe-inspiring awesomeness of An Autumn For Crippled Children, do so. Right now. Check out the song below which was on Lost. Everything comes out on September 1st via Aeternitas Tenebrarum Musicae Fundamentum. Enjoy.

VREID Are Going To Tour! …Mostly In Canada And The West Coast.

I can never catch a break. All the time I spend writing about the music that I love, I never get to go to shows. One reason is that I actually have to have a real job to pay bills so I can continue to bitch about music and another is because not too many great shows come around here. Sure there are some, for example, I missed Rwake last night because they played 100 miles away and I had to work. Suckage. Anyway, that’s just me whining.

So, Vreid is touring soon in support of their latest album V. They will be hitting the road with Kampfar and Necronomicon to run across Canada and down the West Coast. Sucks that I don’t get to see any of these shows due to my current rural positioning, but it should be a fun time for those of you who can actually make it to a show. Check out the dates after the jump. Check out a tour teaser from Vreid on Metal Injection where Rob spelled the bands name wrong. Score one, Robba.

I was recently introduced to a band known as Kraken Duumvirate when I received a load of new black metal promos. This band is extremely spaced out, misanthropic black metal goodness. They have a lot of weird stuff going on that I am really digging. The music is fast, atmospheric and haunting, all elements that make them into a great black metal band. To be honest, I don’t know too much about this project aside from their sound and the fact that they put out a new EP recently called The Astroglyphs of the Ritual of Deluge. This is the bands second EP and their second release since forming (the first EP was released in 2008, titles From the Dying Soil to the Eternal Sea. I also know they are Finnish. That is about the end of what I know about them. The band’s latest EP came out July 19th via Ahdistuksen Aihio Productions. Check ‘em out.
