Somatoform Vortex….. I’m not really sure what that is supposed to mean, but I do know that is the title of the first Sleep Terror song in several years. I was under the impression that Sleep Terror was long broke up considering all the cryptic Myspace posts guitarist Luke Jaeger was making a few years back. Anyway, this new track is sonically right where the duo left off. Somatoform Vortex is a hybrid of blistering technical death metal and goofy funk. I know that sounds pretty odd but under the right circumstances it can be pretty fucking radical.
Just in case you weren’t familiar with these two dudes, guitarist Jaeger used to be in Hunab Ku and filled in as a touring guitarist for All Shall Perish. While Drummer Dave Mcgraw also happens to be the drummer for Cattle Decapitation. So yeah, it’s safe to say these dudes know how to shred. I think it’s just Luke now. The Bandcamp page says all songs were recorded and written by him. I know his new release is being produced by Vishal Singh from Amogh Symphony, although I have no idea how that is coming along.
