Considering that Marduk released their new album Serpent Sermon yesterday via Century Media Records, I guess I should point out that the album has been streaming in it’s entirety over at CVLT Nation since Friday. I don’t know why I haven’t posted about this stream yet, for some reason it just kept slipping past me. I suppose this is also appropriate since on Monday, Marduk‘s guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson announced something that has been debated for the last two decades: he has skull fragments, pieces of brain and pieces of lead from the shotgun shell that Mayhem‘s former vocalist used to take his own life.

It was said that Mayhem‘s gutiarist Euronymous had collected pieces of Dead (born Per Ohlin) after his suicide and sent pieces to black metal musicians who he felt were worthy, those who truly honed the craft. No other names have been reported, but you can read the full piece here. And while you’re reading, go stream or buy Marduk’s new album Serpents Sermon.
