Putting Out The Flames: HIGH ON FIRE Forced To Drop Off Of Mayhem Fest

Oakland, CA metal band HIGH ON FIRE has announced that it will be forced to miss this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival as front man and guitarist Matt Pike enters treatment for alcohol rehabilitation.  The award winning power trio (also featuring drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz) will put its scheduled touring plans on hold indefinitely as Pike takes the necessary steps towards regaining his health.

The above statement has been issued on High On Fire‘s behalf, seeing as the band has now dropped off of the Mayhem Fest Tour that is set to take off on June 30th (get dates here). The band has stated that guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike will be entering rehabilitation to cure his addiction to alcohol. I’ve been sober for almost a year-and-a-half, so I can understand him wanting to do this. I did not have to go to rehab to cure myself, but some peoples addictions are stronger than others. Good luck, Matt. Get well and we’ll see you on the road soon enough.
