In an odd turn of events it seems as if Thurston Moore of the legendary Sonic Youth will be apart of the black metal “super group” Twilight’s new record, which will be released in the Fall on Century Media. The lineup on this record will consist of Moore, Blake Judd (Nachtmystium), Sandford Parker (Minsk, Nachtmystium), Stavros Giannopolous (The Atlas Moth), Wrest (Leviathan) and Imperial (Krieg). Blake Judd is also hoping to get Aaron Turner (Isis), Rob Lowe (Lichen) and Malefic (Xasthur) to contribute to the album. Apparently Moore is a big black metal fan. I am excited to see what Thurston will bring to the table. Listen to one of my favorite Sonic Youth songs below as well as a song from Twilight.

Very very excited by this. I’ve been a massive Sonic Youth fan since the early 90s, and have been well into black metal for the last 5 or so years. Can’t wait to see what he brings to the band in terms of sound and songwriting. Should be pretty dissonant if nothing else!
