Long Island death metal legends Suffocation have announced that they are done recording their new album. The band has revealed via Facebook that the title of their fourth coming album will be “The Pinnacle of Bedlam“. Right now there isn’t a tentative release date for the album but it will most likely be sometime early in 2013. According to the band more details will be “announced soon”.
Apparently, “The Pinnacle of Bedlam” will come with a bonus DVD. I’m not really sure if this DVD will be the long-awaited Suffocation documentary or just be some behind the scenes in studio stuff because the documentary was originally set as stand alone release. Either way, as long as Frank is in it, I’m sure it will be entertaining.
Bassist Derek Boyer had this to say about “Pinnacle of Bedlam” in a recent interview –
It’s a concept album based loosely on the ‘Tibetan Book Of The Dead’. We didn’t wanna just throw a bunch of different concepts, we wanted to try to work together as a band and write something that had a theme. And I think we’re really in the right direction with this one.”
“It’s always interesting when you record a record. If you’re conscious, maybe you can channel the energy into a sole product where we’re all, like, ‘Let’s just do whatever,’ and it still comes out great. But we pretty much tried to hone it in and tried to work on a concept album.
