The first part of a three part mini-documentary series capturing Letlive’s secret show at the Slidebar in Fullerton, CA has surfaced online. The clip begins with an introductory musing from frontman Jason Butler on Letlive’s “friends” and flows into a performance of “Renegade ’86”. You can view it below and future parts will become available soon.
Nile has announce the full touring schedule for their upcoming March/April North American tour. I had previously thought the tour was going to be in support of their new record, At the Gates of Sethu. Turns out I was wrong. It is in fact a special tour that commemorates their 20 years together. The band is even planning on playing TWO full sets with a brief intermission in between. Guitarist Karl Sanders has the full scoop:
King Dude has already given us music videos for “Holy Land” and “Jesus in the Courtyard”. But now he ventures into even weirder territory with his new video for “I’m Cold” from his stellar new record Burning Daylight. The video is a collage of forest and other outdoor imagery and various clips featuring an unknown, seemingly masochistic couple. It’s pretty weird but awesome. Check it out below!
If Johnny Cash and the like dabbled in the occult and collaborated with the likes of Death in June then you may end up with something that sounds like King Dude, if all goes well. T.J. Cowgill’s, AKA King Dude, signature brand of ominous, gothic tinged, growling folk is back in full effect on his new full length Burning Daylight. King Dude’s supernatural, bellowing baritone soars over thirty three minutes of what might possibly be his best work to date.
Turns out the song Stray From the Path have been playing live, “Landmines”, is in fact the song the band have been working on in the studio. As stated before, the track is very groove heavy and obviously Rage Against the Machine inspired. In all honesty it’s pretty damn catchy and fun to listen to. But I still prefer their more hardcore influenced style. Check it out below and pick up the single on iTunes.
The instrumental heavy metallers Stallone are currently streaming their new six song EP, American Baby, exclusively at Revolver. This basket of badass riffs is heavy, catchy and an all around good time. It’s one of those releases you cannot hate no matter how much you try. Check it out now and headbang like the dumbass you are.

The legendary Hydra Head Records will end its nearly twenty year run with a split LP from noise artist Prurient and Justin Broadrick’s (Godflesh,Jesu, etc) industrial slam factory JK Flesh, whose debut album Posthuman is available now. The split will be entitled Worship is the Cleansing of the Imagination and will see a release on December 11th. Pitchfork is currently streaming a cut from the upcoming split record entitled “I Understand You”, which is written by Prurient. The track is seven minutes of churning noise buzzing over a simple keyboard melody. The track is very repetitive but in a hypnotic kind of way. Check it out and be sure to listen to JK Flesh’s Posthuman. Here is a cut from that record.
The ever prolific Japanese experimental rockers, Boris, have announced a new split record with singer songwriter Joe Volk. This 12″ split will be released through Invada records on December 10th and will be available digitally and in vinyl format. According to the press release, Boris’ side looks like it will be one track entitled “Cosmos”, which will feature three distinct parts. The song is described as “three parts that traverses a landscape of cymbal washes and fuzzed glitches in Part 1, to the relentlessly volcanic jagged grooves of Part 2, before descending underwater spirals through Part 3”. Joe Volk’s side will feature two experimental acoustic tracks entitled “Call to Sun” and “Finland”. Purchasing information will be released soon.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I love me some Boris. From what I have heard so far, Joe Volk has some pretty fantastic tunes as well. I look forward to getting my hands on this. Check back for details as they develop. In the meantime, listen to a song from each artist.
Italy’s most destructive force The Secret are currently streaming their fierce new album Agnus Dei over on CVLT Nation and I gotta say, this is an album that NEEDS to be heard. I’ve been listening to this album for a few weeks now and I will tell you that it is one of the best releases of the year. It’s a filthy work of art and you should all stop what you’re doing and listen to this beast. The album was released last week via Southern Lord Records. Check out a track below and stream the whole thing here. Enjoy. Continue reading →
One of the most highly anticipated records of this year, hands down, would be Neurosis’ Honor Found in Decay. The record will officially be released tomorrow, October 30th, but the band have provided a special stream for those who cannot wait another second. I think this record is fantastic and is probably one of the best Neurosis have put out in awhile. My opinion of course. Check it out below and form your own.
Fan filmed footage of Tomahawk’s entire set at the Exit/In in Nashville, TN on October 27th captured the band debuting new material from their upcoming record, Oddfellows. New songs include “Oddfellows”, “Baby Let’s Play”, “White Hats” and of course the new single “Stone Letter”. The songs sound fantastic and varied and amplify my desire to get my hands on this record. The band also closes their set with covers of Bad Brains’ tracks “Pay to Cum” and “How Low Can a Punk Get”. You can check out the entire set below.
