Drummer for A Perfect Circle (and countless other projects), Josh Freese, announced that he is retiring his position as drummer in the group over his Twitter page. His tweet read:

After 13 years, I’ve decided to leave @aperfectcircle with no plans of returning. Apologies to those inquiring about the upcoming shows.

The band hasn’t formerly announced a replacement yet but it looks like touring drummer Jeff Friedl will most likely take the spot.

The band is scheduled to play one show in 2012 at Planet Hollywood in Los Angeles on December 29th. A Perfect Circle is also scheduled to play next years Soundwave Festival in Australia as well as Lollapalooza in Santiago, Chile.

No word yet on new material surfacing from APC any time soon. But if they’re anything like Tool then we won’t be seeing any new stuff for quite some time.
