Members of Sleepytime Trio, Thursday and Frodus have come together under the moniker Regents in order to bring you Antietam After Party. The debut record from this spastic post-hardcore act will see a release on November 20th. Brooklyn Vegan are currently streaming a newly released cut from the upcoming Antietam After Party entitled “Night Soil”. The track is a raw, energetic and noisy collection of sharp riffs that cut through you like a blade. Vocalist and guitarist Drew Ringo commented on the new track:
Lyrically the song focuses on the power, furtiveness and patience of addiction. The song also takes a personal tact, commenting on the unexpected impacts of recovery on ego and emotion. As for the song title, while traveling in China I learned of the practice of using human excrement as farm fertilizer, termed night soil. It’s a dangerous practice because of the potential to spread disease. I couldn’t help but note the similarities – disease feeding on disease, human’s poisoning themselves, shit and desperation.
