You may know Meek Is Murder best because they were founded by a former guitarist of The Red Chord, or possibly because Frank from Metal Injection plays drums for them.. But you really should know about them because of how fucking awesome of a band they are. These guys have come a long way since their debut “Mosquito Eater”, So much so that their 2011 release “Algorithms” ended up being one of my favorite albums of last year.
At the end of this month, October 30th to be exact, Meek Is Murder will digitally release a brand new 5 track EP. As in Meek fashion, the new album will be loosely inspired by some nerdy shit. The sci-fi themed release will also feature guest vocals from Jesse Korman (The Number 12 Looks like You). Awesome! Here is the official press release –
The 5-song EP assaults listeners with Meek’s special brand of techy, chaotic hardcore and manages to get in-and-out in about 7 minutes. The EP was engineered and mixed by Kevin Antreassian at Backroom Studios (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mike Portnoy, and Foxy Shazam) along with producer and guest vocalist Jesse Korman of The Number 12 Looks Like You. Into The Sun Where It Falls Off The Sky was mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, Mastodon) at West West Side Music.”
Meek is Murder’s Mike Keller (guitars/vocals) comments on the sic-fi theme of the EP: “Much in the way Algorithms drew influence from computer science concepts as allegories for life’s many challenges, the songs of Into The Sun Where It Falls Off The Sky honor a couple of our favorite sci-fi films as metaphors for the comedy and tragedy of our lives.
The track listing is as follows:
1. Private William Hudson (Dead Meat)
2. Ellen Ripley (Into The Sun)
3. Doctor Emmett Brown (Endless In Our Fleeting)
4. Marty McFly (88 mph)
5. Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Out Of Gas)
