Members of the influential Will Haven (Jeff Irwin, Mitch Wheeler and Adrien Contreras) are reportedly involved in a new musical project entitled Goodbye Black Sky. The new group is going to be putting out a debut album in Spring of this year and a teaser for the upcoming material can be streamed below. The music sounds very post-metal, almost Isis-esque inspired with huge sludgy chords and ethereal atmospherics. It sounds promising. No other info has been released but be sure to check back here for more updates.
The upcoming extensive Spring touring schedule of Opeth and Katatonia has officially been mapped out. You can find the tour dates below in which three special dates will include appearances by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. Above is the amazing artwork for Intronaut’s upcoming single, “Milk Leg”, which will be released digitally on February 5th. A single sided 7″ with an etched B-side will follow thereafter. This song will serve as the first taste of new music from their upcoming record Habitual Levitations. The new record will see the light of day on March 19th via Century Media.
In case you didn’t know, Hurricane Sandy wiped out Brooklyn’s Translator Audio Studios (Cave In, Daughters, etc). To help raise money for its inevitable restoration, Cave In have released a three track live effort that can be purchased at this location. These three tracks (“Anchor”, “Dark Driving”, “Joy Opposites”) were recorded on an off-day during their 2002 tour with Foo Fighters and was originally broadcast Steve Lamacq show. The eclectic alternative band, The Men, have released the official details for their upcoming record. The new album will be titled New Moon and will see the light of day on March 5th via Sacred Bones Recordings. Before that becomes available, The Men will be releasing a 7″ on January 22nd that will contain the track “Electric” (which can streamed below) and the non album track “Water Babies”. If you can recall, Giant Squid off-shoot, Grayceon, will be releasing a new two song EP this year on The Flesner Records. Pearl and The End of the Days, the new thirty minute release, has been given a release date of February 12th.
