Just a few days ago, television’s cooking icon Rachael Ray featured Saturday Night Live and Portlandia cast member Fred Armisen as the guest on her show. At some point in the interview, Ray gives her guests one minute of free time to purvey any message that they choose. In this particular instant, Armisen chose to go on a thirty-second tangent about “a musician who he thinks is the greatest ever”. That musician was none other than Death Grips drummer Zach Hill! According to Armisen, Hill has “reinvented how you drum”.
Man, that is some killer press, too bad it’s going to be wasted on people who’d rather listen to Justin Beiber. Can you just imagine America’s bored house wives casually youtubing Death Grips? Yeah, pretty fucking awesome, right? To view the clip of Armisen on Rachael Ray click here.
Holy shiiiiiittttt!!!!! get fucking stoked! Prog masters Cynic have just offered us a little update on how the writing for their upcoming album is coming… And damn, it sounds pretty awesome. I honestly can wait to see what they have in store for us this time. I was a little disappointed in Carbon-Based Anatomy but from the sound of it, it looks like the guys are bit more focused on writing actual songs this time around…. STOKED.AS.FUCK
It looks like Wu-Tang Clan member RAEKWON (The Chief) has been in the kitchen cooking up some fantastic shit again. This tasty new serving comes in the form of a short music video for a track off of his new album, “Unexpected Victory“. The track is titled A Pinebox Story and it’s a lyrical journey about a dude getting murdered. The production by 9th wonder is amazing. It’s seriously got some of the best placed samples I’ve heard in a while.
The visuals look great and the concept is right up my ally considering it’s just Raekwon doing some fool dirty and rippin blunts. Do yourself a favor, roll a blunt, watch the video, and cop the new mixtape.
Late last week a video surfaced of the drummer of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Billy Rymer, being interviewed on NBC4 about…… Taco fucking Bell. I guess this means Billy isn’t a vegan or a health nut like most of the other dudes in DEP. It’s odd to me that anyone eats Taco Bell, it’s odd to me that out of all the random people they happened to interview Rymer, and it’s even odder that they were doing a piece about late night fast food during the day. Whatever. I guess DEP can use this footage when they inevitably apply for a Taco Bell sponsorship. YO QUIERO TACO BELL!!
Holy David Icke! Did you guys see that? Michael Keene, guitarist of The Faceless, did a promo video for PETA 2! I am not exactly surprised that Keene is a vegan but his explanation why was a little humorous to me because it was soooo not death metulz. I also chuckled at PETA wanting to censor out the obvious Suffocation shirt Keene is wearing.
Black metal musicians are awesome and most of the time, funny as hell. Chasma‘s Aaron Schomaker recently put out a video called “Dude Food Metal Review” in which Aaron cooks dude food (simple food that can be made quick and under the influence of drugs and alcohol) in the form of Top Ramen (which is delicious) and he also reviews Velnias‘ Sovereign Nocturnal with Noctis member John. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. This might be the grimmest, kvltest thing you have ever seen that involves Ramen noodles. Check out the video below and stay tuned for more.
Let’s be honest, there is really nothing good about being sick. I can’t stand being quarentined, and get completely stir-crazy. Since I am your typical “health store voodoo natural remedy” toting California resident, my go to remedy is old-fashioned chicken soup. It’s incredibly simple to make, which means that even when you are incapable of thinking straight in between sneezing, you can whip up a batch of the stuff. It actually does make you feel a little better, and even the smell is comforting (provided you can smell anything through your cold…). MORE
I am really an incredibly lazy cook. By lazy I mean I don’t like to measure things, I despise recipes that have too many ingredients and I don’t like to buy specialty items that you will use a teensy bit of and then watch the rest fossilize in your cupboard. I also really like things that you can throw together fast and then go do something else while they make your house smell delicious. This recipe is probably the first thing I ever learned to make, and it’s still a go-to dish for me today. You can do this with a whole chicken or even a turkey breast (if you use the whole chicken stuff a lemon in its “cavity” before you do the rest), but when I am trying to make something quick to prepare I just use chicken breasts. Bone in or out, skin on or off – any combo will do really. Three easy steps: READ MORE
Hey, I don’t like to eat a lot of processed foods, and I like to know that what I am eating is reasonably fresh. For that reason I get the majority of my fruits and vegetables from a local CSA. It’s cheap and convenient, and everything is local and non-GMO. The one challenge that I have is that you are getting whatever is in season – and sometimes, I just don’t know what the hell to do with it.
So here is a super easy soup recipe that can be adapted to use up any of those weird leafy greens that you get in the fall. Adjust the amounts depending on how many people you have to feed – or how many days in a row you want to eat soup… READ MORE
My family is Italian on my Dad’s side, and I have always been just a little obsessed with cooking all that is Italian. One birthday I was treated to an Italian cooking lesson and I was hooked for good. They showed me how to make all of the basics in one perfect day. Since then I have experimented with those basic recipes, and made each one uniquely my own by making a small change here or there, usually for convenience or because I didn’t have a certain ingredient. One of the first things I wanted to master was risotto. I always believed risotto was really complicated to make. The reality is that its super easy – it just requires some patience and the ability to stir and pay attention. I recommend getting a 45 minute play list pulled together with some thunderous drums to make the stirring less monotonous. READ MORE
