Something that doesn’t happen to often to bands these days is bands getting documentaries made about them. It happens every so often and it’s usually pretty cool. There was Why You Do This which focused on Car Bomb, there was As The Palaces Burn which was about the trial of Lamb Of God‘s Randy Blythe and most recently there was Forget Not, the documentary about The Chariot‘s final tour before calling it quits.
Well, there is a new documentary coming and it happens to be about one of my favorite bands: Rosetta. While I am not sure when the doc will be released, you can listen to/download the film’s soundtrack, which was crafted by the band themselves. Check out Audio/Visual after the jump. BUY IT. A few weeks back Deafheaven were seen in live footage performing their new song “From The Kettle Onto The Coil” and now the band has released a studio version of the track. Of course, the track will be released for free as a part of Adult Swim’s Summer Singles on the 25th of this month, so look forward to that, but until then check out a full stream of the track after the jump. A few months back I posted about a rad compilation featuring bands covering Misfits tracks. Well, the folk at CVLT Nation have come through again and have released a new compilation featuring covers of one of my all-time favorite bands: Joy Division. Some of the stand-out bands are Pinkish Black, Old Witch and Arctic Flowers, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Check out a full stream of the compilation below. Continue reading →
Odd Future hip-hop collective MellowHype (Hodgy Beats and Left Brain), who released the phenomenal album Numbers back in 2012 have just released their new mixtape INSA. As a fan of the group, I was thrilled to find out that I had new jams to enjoy and, yes, the music is fantastic. You can stream the mixtape after the jump and you can find the link to download the album for free. Daaaaaamn right. Continue reading →
Not too long ago I told you about that new track from Red Fang that I was digging. You remember, right? Well that track was the a-side of the bands newly released Scion A/V 7″, which Scion will be handing out for FREE at upcoming shows. Well, the band has now released the b-side to said 7″. This track is titled “The Shadows,” as opposed to the previously released track “The Meadows.” Check it out after the jump. Continue reading →
A while back CVLT Nation started doing their CVLT Nation Sessions, in which they would enlist numerous bands to cover albums in full. Thus far, Black Sabbath‘s Masters Of Reality has been Cvltified and so has Discharge‘s Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing. Well, there is no slowing down The CVLT, the site has just released it’s third installation in the form of Misfits‘ Earth A.D.! Bands like Baptists, Xaphan, Woes and more have all come together to cover one of the greatest bands there has ever been. Check out a stream of the album below. Continue reading →
If you’re like me, you were subjected to many hours of your childhood being spent on PBS, probably finding yourself watching Reading Rainbow. As a kid, I wasn’t aware that the guy hosting the show was also Geordi La Forge nor did I know that one day I would be writing a post about it on my metal blog. Continue reading →
Why am I not surprised that Weedeater love doughnuts? I mean, everyone loves doughnuts so why wouldn’t a stonerdoom band love them?! Well, Weedeater want to show you exactly how much they love the sweet delectables in their new track “Hot Doughnuts Now.” The track was recorded after Weedeater performed at one of Scion A/V’s shows at the Satellite in L.A. Apparently, every band that plays records a track that is then pressed onto 7″ vinyl which is then distributed for free at future shows.
I am a huge black metal fan and one of my favorite styles of the genre is black punk. What is black punk, you ask? It’s a raw and filthy style of black metal that drips and oozes with punk tones. The band that got me into the genre is Raspberry Bulbs and now another band has crept into my peripheral. The band is called Floridian Winter and I have heard whispers about the band here and there across the interwebs but sitting down right now and listening to the bands material, I am blown away. Check out a stream below that is being hosted by our friends at CVLT Nation, who also have a free download of both releases in the stream. Continue reading →
A while back MetalSucks released their first two compilations: NYC Sucks, Vol. 1 & 2 and now they have returned with their third. You can stream the whole thing below and download it over on MetalSucks. Rad tunes. Continue reading →
I am a huge can of post punk, especially when it is done correctly. I have recently (and by recently, I mean yesterday) learned of a new post punk artist who creates haunting and mesmerizing tunes under the moniker This Cold Night. The guys name is Chase Morledge and he is a phenomenon. I mean, it’s like the nineties and two-thousands never happened. This is so ’80s reminiscent that it’s fucking insane. Check out a full stream of his new album We Of Like Minds after the jump. Continue reading →
Blackened death metalcore act Lions Of Tsavo who released the fantastic Traverser last year are currently offering up this album for free download until April 14th. So click on over and stream and download the album and then figure out if this tour is coming near you. Continue reading →
Whoresnation are a band that I have been listening to for a while but for some reason I missed the release of their latest album earlier this month. The French band with such an amazing name takes grindcore to new heights and completely decimates everything in its way. Taking cues from Napalm Death and Rotten Sound but adding their own distinct flavor and flow, Whoresnation are most definitely one of the most important grindcore bands that you don’t know exist.
