James Kelly, vocalist and guitarist of Altar of Plagues, also has an electronic project under the name Wife, who has just released something very interesting: a remix of The Dillinger Escape Plan‘s “One of Us Is The Killer.” You can stream the dark, ominous remix after the jump.
Personally, I think it’s pretty killer. Continue reading
First we lost A Life Once Lost and now we’ve lost Altar Of Plagues, both called it quits after releasing incredible albums, the latter of which is in the running for one of my favorite albums of the year. Teethed Glory And Injury is a stunning black metal release by a band who knows what the hell they
are were doing. James Kelly, the bands vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist, has released a statement, in which he tells the world that Altar of Plagues is no more. Continue reading
Altar Of Plagues are one of the most fascinating bands I have ever gotten into. These Irish black metallers have blown me away ever since I heard their debut album and each of their subsequent releases since. The band is prepping the release of their new album Teethed Glory And Injury and in anticipation of it’s release, the band is currently streaming this beautiful release! Click through to find out where! Continue reading
This is another case of “I-don’t-know-what’s-going-on-in-this-video” for me. What am I talking about? Why, the new music video from Ireland’s blackened visionaries Altar of Plagues. This video is fucking odd, but the song is beyond spectacular. Check out the video after the jump. Continue reading
It’s that time of year again: when we tell all of you folks what our favorite albums of 2012 were. Well, like last year I have compiled a few different lists and I wanted to start off with this one.
Who doesn’t love split albums? I mean, getting not one, but two bands on a single record is a thing of beauty. I listened a shit-ton of split albums this year and it was a pain in my ass narrowing down to only ten splits. This is what I have come to think of as the best split releases of 2012.
James Kelly, the man behind Irish black metal outfit Altar of Plagues, has unveiled his new electronic based side project entitled WIFE. Kelly will release an EP in November through Left_Blank entitled Stoic under the WIFE moniker. A song from the EP entitled “Bodies” has already been released with an accompanying music video. “Bodies” is a trippy, atmospheric track that features layered acoustic guitar riffs and piano strums underneath a wall of tranquil ambiance, strange, reversed vocal samples and a catchy bass heavy beat. The video shows Kelly involved in a strange bodily ritual in which he covers himself in grime and eats a peach in an animalistic manner. It’s a pretty awesome song in my opinion. Check it out below.
Hello, my faithful followers. Today will be a little different than most Sundays. As you all know, I do Black Metal Sunday every single Sunday (pretty much). Well, there hasn’t been a lot of black metal news in the last few weeks so I am just gonna treat today like any other day and just post regular shit. There may be some black metal in here, but for the most part this will be like any other weekday. I will be keeping my Black Metal Sunday playlist however, so you can enjoy that. Special one today, also.
Let’s start off this fine day with Altar Of Plagues. This Irish atmospheric black metal band is one of the finest and one of my favorites. I missed out on their release this year titled Mammal but you can bet your ass I am catching up on it now. FYI, it’s fucking phenomenal. If you have yet to embrace it, then this morning’s playlist might seriously interest you. I bring you a full album stream of Altar of Plagues Mammal. Check it out. Enjoy. I know you will.
