Get your Thursday afternoon off right with the new album from your favorite instrumental progressive metal trio, Animals as Leaders. The forthcoming album, The Joy of Motion, will officially be released on March 25th via Sumerian Records. I understand that five days is a tortuous amount of time for some of you, so feel free to stream the new record in full after the break. Be sure to pre-order your copy at this location as well.
Animals as Leaders have premiered a new track from their forthcoming album, The Joy of Motion, which will be released on March 25th via Sumerian Records. The new song is the awe-inspiring and trippy “Lippincott”. In contrast to the highly aggressive “Tooth and Claw”, the track weaves through ever evolving passages of jazz-inspired soloing, polyrhythmic grooves and ambient electronics. It reminds me a bit of the material off of Weightless, albeit a little heavier. You can stream the track after the break and pre-order your copy here.
Animals as Leaders have premiered a new track from their forthcoming album, The Joy of Motion, which is out on March 25th via Sumerian Records. The new track is entitled “Tooth and Claw” and it hits like a freight train; a freight train full of progressive goodness. It’s got all the things Animals as Leaders fans want; down-tuned chugging, glitchy electronic interludes, and ridiculously impressive shredding. You can stream the new track after the break. You’ll be glad you did.
I believe most of us have been waiting patiently for instrumental prog masters Animals as Leaders to announce their third album. Well, they finally have. The new record will bear the title The Joy of Motion and will see a release through Sumerian Records on March 25th. On the album, guitarist Javier Reyes comments:
I think some of the new tracks are some of AAL’s strongest and musical material yet and extremely happy with how the album came out. Everyone who took part with this album (Misha Mansoor (Periphery), Adam Getgood (Periphery), Diego Farias(Volumes), and Navene Koperweis) is extremely talented and I think we’ve done a great job of capturing it onto what is now the third Animals As Leaders album.
Pre-orders for the album will be available in the coming weeks. An official album trailer can be viewed after the break.
Fan-filmed footage captured Animals as Leaders performing a new song this past Friday, January 31st, in Brisbane, Australia. The track sounds pretty solid from what I can discern. You can watch the performance after the break.
Animals as Leaders’ third full length album has been given a tentative March release date through Sumerian Records. No official details have been released just yet. The band will be embarking on an album release tour with After the Burial, Chon, and Navene K later this month. You can view the tour dates after the break as well.
I know there are more than a handful of you who hit up the Summer Slaughter festival every year, even if it’s for a single band. Every metal site looks forward to this tour for the simple reason of wanting to see who has been announced will be a part of Summer Slaughter. This years line-up looks fucking killer, if I say so myself. Check out the full line-up and poster below. Continue reading →
I know a lot of you are excited for the upcoming Intronaut and to be honest, so am I. The band have released the dirty details on Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words With Tones) including the awesome artwork and the official track listing, which can be viewed below. In addition to their upcoming tour in North America with Meshuggah and Animals as Leaders, the band will be touring Europe in April with The Atlas Moth and Castle. Those dates can be viewed below as well as the music video for “Milk Leg”. Check it out.
As previously reported, Intronaut have begun booking February headlining shows just a few days before their extensive tour with Meshuggah and Animals as Leaders. The band have added a few more to the list which can be viewed after the jump. Their new record, HabitualLevitations, is out March 19th via Century Media.
According to a recent Facebook update, Periphery guitarist Misha Mansoor looks to be working with Animals as Leaders on new material. Misha states that they have six new songs down. For those that do not know, Misha provided the drum programming and helped produce their debut self titled record. I am very curious as to how this little puppy will turn out. Until then, check out their song “New Eden” below.
Tour dates for the highly anticipated Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders and Intronaut North American tour have officially been announced. If you know what is good for you, you will get your ass to one of the following shows. Get your prog on ya nerds!
You may remember the announcement that ex-Animals as Leaders drummer Navene Koperweis would be releasing a solo, electronic centered EP under the name Navene K. Well the Human Design EP was released yesterday and is available for free download. The title track features guest bass from The Faceless’ Evan Brewer if that tickles your fancy. Anyway, stream it below.
According to Lambgoat, a possible February tour featuring Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders and Intronaut is rumored to be in the works. Lambgoat sited one show as possible evidence of this tour taking place:
Navene Koperweis, former Animals as Leaders drummer, is currently involved in a new experimental electronic project under the moniker Navene K. Navene will release a free digital EP entitled Human Design on November 13th under that pseudonym on the project’s official Bandcamp page. A little two minute teaser of what’s to come can be streamed below. It combines various electronic styles like IDM and dubstep into a complex, eccentric package. I don’t think it sounds that bad actually, despite the dubstep wobbles. Anyways, check out the teaser below if you so wish.
Instrumental jazzy prog band T.R.A.M originally seemed like they were going to make big waves in the undergound music pool, but now are slowly fading into another forgotten studio project. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this group, the band consists of Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders), Javier Reyes (Animals As Leaders), Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies)and Adrian Terrazas-Gonzalez (The Mars Volta). To date, T.R.A.M have only played one show.
The only show the group ever played, they headlined and it was a free event during SXSW 2011′ that featured The Faceless and Meek Is Murder. I was lucky enough to attend this show and bootlegged 3 out of the four songs they played. Continue after the jump to watch almost the entire set from the progressive super group (it includes some Eric Moore drum cam style footage).
