The band has released two studio updates for Necropolis Transparent (here and here) and of course you want to hear these tracks from these deathgrind allstars. I haven’t checked out the video in full yet, but from what I’ve listened to, this album should be pretty amazing. I have been anticipating Lock Up’s follow up to Hate Breeds Suffering for far too long. So be sure to check out the video below and pick up the album when it drops on July 12th here in the US (July 1st everywhere else, I think). Enjoy the grindage.

Think back. Remember when I posted about that killer At The Gates cover? Okay. Think back further. Remember when I reviewed Windfaerer’s Tribus album? Well, as it turns out, the vocalist in Windfaerer (Michael Gonçalves) is the guy who was singing that At The Gates cover! I had no idea about any of this until Mike left a comment on post I made about that video. Mike is also in the bands Engorged Anal Tumor, Skies Devoured, Painted Rust and Grimus. So it seems that Mike is a pretty busy dude and he still has time to create a video depicting a fantastic At The Gates cover. Well done, Mike. Well done. And now, for your viewing pleasure, you can check out the At The Gates cover again and after the jump, peep a Windfaerer tune. Be sure to check out Mike’s other bands, also!

And Gnarly shits his pants. I’m seriously anticipating this record. If it comes out and I am disappointed, there is a good chance that I will climb a clock tower. You know, just to say I climbed a clock tower. Apparently, this will be an “all out grind assault” which will pay tribute to the thrash and death metal bands of the ’80s (i.e. Dark Angel and Possessed). Short but sweet, this only makes me want to hear this fucking record even more…
After the jump you can check out the track list because I don’t know if I posted it last time and I don’t feel like looking. Peace out.

Remember when I did my spotlight on Tomas Lindberg (here and here)? Well, in that spotlight I talked about Lindberg’s amazing grind project Lock Up and how they were recording a new album that is to be released on July 1st. That album is called Necropolis Transparent and a trailer for the album has recently surfaced online via Nuclear Blast’s Youtube page. This trailer has done nothing but get me even more excited for this record. It reveals guest musicians who are to appear on the album as well as the story behind the album’s artwork. Check out the video below.

Well, I totally forgot that today was Dia De Slayer until I caught numerous people of Facebook showing their love. Happy Day of Slayer! If you don’t know much about the Day of Slayer, you can read about it here.
I actually don’t have much to say about Slayer other than I’ve only seen them once. It was a one-off show from Ozzfest in 2004. The full line-up of bands was Hatebreed, Slipknot, God Forbid and Slayer. Regardless of the roster, I had a damn good time. Slayer absolutely killed it. They were amazing. Finishing up with Raining Blood and being covered in gallons of the red fluid. It was one show I remember. I also remember bumping into Tom Araya two days later at the actual Ozzfest show and not realizing it until he was almost out of sight. Hmm… I digress. I will now leave you with a few bands showing love to Slayer. Check ‘em out after the jump.

I really dig videos like this, whether they are actually playing the song or not. Now, I’m not too sure about this vocalist. Either these are Tomas Lindberg’s vocals or this kid is the best Lindberg imitator I’ve ever heard. I’m betting on the first, because this music is far too close. Yeah, they may be playing the instruments to it, but the backing track is spot on. I A-and-B’ed the track and it synced up. Still a fun video, regardless. Check it out.

I have been thinking lately and I don’t think I’ve spotlighted enough individuals. I have spotlighted bands in the past, but I have never settled on one single person. Well, it is about time I do this and I for this I picked a man that has made quite a name for himself in the metal world. This man has spewed his vocals across many different sub-genres of metal. Who could this be? The man I speak of goes by the name of Tomas Lindberg. Most people would think of Tomas Lindberg and go straight for the obvious and shout “At The Gates!” but that is not all Tomas is well-known for.
At The Gates was not the first metal band that Tomas fronted. Before At The Gates Tomas fronted the death metal band Grotesque where he was known as Goatspell. Grotesque was shirt-lived but influential nonetheless. The band only put out a few demos, and EP before calling it quits. A compilation was released in 1996 featuring remixed tracks from the band’s Incantation EP, remastered tracks from a never-released demo and two tracks that were specially recorded for this release in 1996. The band reunited shortly in 2007 for a special concert featuring the also reformed Nirvana 2002 and Interment. [Continue Reading]

Today I have been jamming the new Caliban EP, Coverfield and it is monsterously epic. As you should know it is a covers EP and I love covers. Every track is executed in the Caliban signature vein with a lot of elements of the original tracks intact. I really dig everything about this EP, especially the cover of Rammstein’s “Sonne.” I love that song at it is killer when executed by Caliban. The other three tracks are fantastic also. The cover of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” is one of my favorites. It sounds more like a cover of an old punk song and I love it. The Type O Negative cover is also pretty killer. My main problem with Type O was that Peter Steele’s voice annoyed me. So if someone else is singing it, I’m down. The last cover on the album is that of At The Gates’ “Blinded By Fear” which stays very close to the original track. It’s all pretty amazing. This is quite possibly one of my favorite EPs of the year. If you haven’t copped this yet, I highly suggest you do so. It dropped today on Century Media.

Well, I may not have ever posted about Caliban, but I have been a fan of the band for quite some time. The first time I heard Caliban was on the first split they did with Heaven Shall Burn and since then, I’ve really dug the band. Anyway, Caliban is releasing a new EP later this month entitled Coverfield. This EP is four cover tracks from The Beatles, At The Gates, Type O Negative and (the track I am most anticipating) a cover of Rammstein’s “Sonne” which happens to be my favorite track by the Rammstein. They have released a teaser for the EP featuring their cover of “Sonne” with footage from when the band played it live recently. The Rammstein cover is very impressive and it makes me tingly. The release for the EP is planned for worldwide release on May 16th (next Monday). What are your feelings on Caliban? Leave a comment and let me know!
