The Melvins have announced the release of a new, ridiculously titled covers album entitled Everybody Loves Sausages. This compilation of cover songs will see a release through Ipecac on April 30th and will see the band (both traditional line up and Melvins Lite line up) covering the likes of Venom, The Kinks, Throbbing Gristle, Queen, David Bowie and more. Some special guests will make appearance on the record as well, such as Scott Kelly (Neurosis) and Clem Burke of Blondie. Frontman Buzz Osborne had this to say on the upcoming, meat filled record:

Today I have been jamming the new Caliban EP, Coverfield and it is monsterously epic. As you should know it is a covers EP and I love covers. Every track is executed in the Caliban signature vein with a lot of elements of the original tracks intact. I really dig everything about this EP, especially the cover of Rammstein’s “Sonne.” I love that song at it is killer when executed by Caliban. The other three tracks are fantastic also. The cover of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” is one of my favorites. It sounds more like a cover of an old punk song and I love it. The Type O Negative cover is also pretty killer. My main problem with Type O was that Peter Steele’s voice annoyed me. So if someone else is singing it, I’m down. The last cover on the album is that of At The Gates’ “Blinded By Fear” which stays very close to the original track. It’s all pretty amazing. This is quite possibly one of my favorite EPs of the year. If you haven’t copped this yet, I highly suggest you do so. It dropped today on Century Media.
