If you’re dying for killer death metal of the darkest kind, Profound Lore offer some of the raddest. Take Cruciamentum for example. This band took over my world a few years back and they are still killing it. The band will release their new record Charnel Passages in September and they are now streaming their new song “Tongues Of Nightshade.” You can hear that track below. It crushes skulls to dust. Cruciamentum, the British old school death metal machine, is currently streaming a track off of their new EP, Engulfed in Desolation and it’s fucking fantastic. The track is called “Through Gates To The Morpheus Realm” and from start to finish it is a compendium of the great death metal bands from the scene’s heyday. It’s got crushing blast beats, buzzsaw riffing and low, overpowering vocals. There is no way you can go wrong with any of those three things. I seriously need to get my hands on this EP, which according to Metal Archives came out on Friday. Check out the track right here. Get your death metal on, kids. Enjoy.
Yes! According to the above Tweet made yesterday by Profound Lore, Vasaeleth, the crushing death metal monstrosity will be releasing a new album next year. I seriously cannot express how amazing this is to me. I fucking love Vasaeleth (and I’ve never misspelled their name!) and I have been patiently waiting for their follow-up to 2010’s Crypt Born & Tethered to Ruin. That album was unbelievable and since then the band has only put out two split albums (one with Vorum and one with Cruciamentum) both of which only had a song a piece. I need more Vasaeleth! Major props to Profound Lore for always keeping my attention and releasing amazing albums. Get stoked!

As I have written before, I am a huge death metal fan. I know you may think otherwise because the majority of what I post about is hardcore/crust and grind, but yes, I do absolutely love death metal.
I grew up in a hick-ass town in Arkansas, so Death Metal was not easy to come by. In my early teens, I fought through the insurgence of Nu-Metal and into the more punishing Death Metal. Bands like Cannibal Corpse, Death and Morbid Angel paved the way to my musical horizons. The bands led me to research and learn about Obituary and Deicide and Suffocation. By the time I was 16, I pretty much had death metal down to a T. It was around that time that I started to get into the more punk side of extreme music.
So yes, I am a grind freak, but my extreme musical roots are in death metal. I have always been and will remain a death metal fan. For this article, I just wanted to post a few absolutely amazing death metal tracks. These are a few that, over the years, I cannot stop listening to. Some of these you may know, some you may not.
