Pennsylvanian instrumental bass and drum outfit, King Dead, have announced the release of their debut self-titled EP. The six-track release was recorded live in their practice space, The Living Room, in Stroudsburg by Dave Reiser of Rock Hard Studios. The album will be self-released by the band on April 19th and can be pre-ordered through their Bandcamp page. Chicagoan death metal trio Immortal Bird dropped their debut, four track EP Akrasia today through Closed Casket Recordings. Brooklyn Vegan have premiered the debut self-titled EP from Creepers; a project featuring Deafheaven’s Shiv Mehra and Daniel Tracy and members of White Cloud and Golden Drugs. Hot off the heels of this year’s Shift of Redemption EP, Enabler will be releasing yet another EP on October 1st via their Bandcamp page. The new EP, entitled Flies, will feature five new tracks and a cover of Sepultura’s “Arise”. Guitarist/vocalist Jeff Lohrber comments on the forthcoming effort:
The Ocean have confirmed that they are currently adding finishing touches on a new EP that will be released sometime next year. The new release will feature two left over songs from the band’s most recent, critically lauded album Pelagial. No other information has been given thus far. Stay tuned!
The doom and gloom crew of Black Sheep Wall will be hitting the studio June 29th to begin recording their new full length effort. As a precursor to the upcoming album, the band has released a three song EP ,entitled It Begins Again, which can be streamed below. The Florida based technical hardcore outfit Capsule have released, without any warning at all, a new five track EP on their Bandcamp. The new EP, entitled [A], features five roman numeral titled tracks that are just what you would expect from Capsule; stellar. This new release is the follow up to 2011′s solid No Ghost. According to a recent interview, Norma Jean frontman Cory Brandan reveals that the band have pretty ambitious plans this year. Other than the new full length they are working on now, Norma Jean are planning to write and record another full length live in one week and write and record an EP in 24 hours and film the process. The Chicago riff-mangling trio of Lair of the Minotaur will celebrate their 10 year anniversary this year with a new EP! The band will release the new two-track EP, entitled Godslayer, on April 20th on Grind-House Records (Record Store Day). The new 7″ EP bears the new tracks “Godslayer” and “The Black Heart of the Stygian Drakonas”, both mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer), and will be limited to 300 copies with digital formats available as well. The malevolent Rhode Island duo of The Body are releasing a new EP this year via At a Loss Recordings. The Body have titled the new offering Master, We Perish and will contain the following three tracks:
1. The Ebb And Flow Of Tides In A Sea Of Ash
2. The Blessed Lay Down And Writhe In Agony
According to the band’s Facebook, the mighty Will Haven are officially working on a new EP. No specific details were given but I imagine the beans will be spilled within the coming weeks. Meshuggah have partnered with good ol’ Scion A/V to bring you a new two track EP entitled Pitch Black. The EP features the previously unreleased title track and a live recording of “Dancers to a Discordant System”, which was recorded live at Distortion Fest, Eindhoven, Netherlands in 2012 “Pitch Black” is a six minute, hypnotic and atmospheric track that was recorded back in 2003 at Fear and Loathing in Stockholm by guitarist Fredrik Thordendal. I personally do not care for the track but my opinion doesn’t matter to you Meshuggahnauts. You can check out both tracks below and pick up the EP for free at this location.
According to a recent Facebook update, Converge will be lining up several releases this year. The band intends to release a Live on BBC Radio EP, a new DVD/Film project, a vinyl reissue of Caring & Killing through Hydra Head and much more. That’s all the information we have for now but stay tuned because it looks like Converge plans to make 2013 their bitch.
