Radical post-rocking sludge heathens Intronaut released a stunning album earlier this year under the title Habitual Levitation and while a lot of the songs are memorable, my favorite track is probably the brilliantly-crafted “Harmonomicon.” Lucky for me (and for you), Intronaut has just released their new music video for that track! The video is beautiful and entrancing. Check it out after the jump and be sure to grab Habitual Levitation. Continue reading »
Between The Buried And Me are no strangers to the touring circuit but this round will be a pretty damn interesting tour. BTBAM will be hitting the road in February alongside Deafheaven, Intronaut and The Kindred. This is sure to be a diverse and destructive tour that you need to get to if you’re around one of the stops. Check out the full poster and dates after the jump. Continue reading »
Mis amigos de black metal Vattnet Viskar have released their first music video for their song “Breath Of The Almighty” which comes off of their debut full-length Sky Swallower, out now on Century Media Records. This is a very interesting video, as it’s dark and very abstract. It’s weird, but I enjoyed it. Check it out below and be sure to pick up Sky Swallower right now! Vattnet Viskar will also be hitting the road with Intronaut for a short run. You can see those dates after the jump as well. Continue reading »

Back in 2010, Intronaut brought the metal world the densely textured progressive heavyweight that is the critically lauded Valley of Smoke. The sludge-metal inspired grumbles of Void and Prehistoricisms were greatly expanded into vast musical feats full of cinematic progressive rock inspired moments with nice post-metal like creamy centers. Valley of Smoke is considered by some as Intronaut’s magnum opus because of the new explorative sound they indulged themselves in. But Intronaut are not done excavating the musical ruins of old to find new sounds to incorporate into their own as their new full length album Habitual Levitations demonstrates. On their fourth full length Intronaut further showcase their impeccable qualities as talented songwriters.
Above is the colorful artwork (done by Duncan Storr) for Scale the Summit’s new album, The Migration. The new Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, etc) produced album is slated to be released on June 11th through Prosthetic Records. Below is the official track listing:
Intronaut have announced an extensive North American touring schedule that will commence this June in support of their new record, Habitual Levitations. The group will be supported in full by Scale the Summit and by Mouth of the Architect and Castle on select stops of the trek. I know I’ll catch a show and so should you! Check out the full schedule below.
The wait is finally over Intronaut fans! The band is currently streaming their upcoming record, Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones), over at Dutch website Vpro.nl. I definitely like this new album more than Valley of Smoke, which has been regarded as their magnum opus by some. The album officially hits the shelves on the 19th but pre-orders are currently being offered at this location. Do yourself a favor and stream this bad boy now!
As Habitual Levitations‘ release date draws nearer (March 19th), Intronaut keeps their fans in suspense with the release of another new track from the record. We’ve heard “Milk Leg”, “The Welding”, and now Visions.de is offering a stream of “The Way Down”. This track is just a solid psychedelic sludge track that you would come to expect from Intronaut. It’s definitely not a bad thing. Check out the track now and a new studio video below.
Intronaut have begun to upload studio webisodes of their recording sessions for their new record, Habitual Levitations, to the net. The first installment sees drummer Danny Walker recording his intricate drum parts as well as giving a tour of their studio space. Check that out below as well as their awesome new track, “The Welding”.
Habitual Levitations will be released on March 19th.
Intronaut have released another new track from their highly anticipated new album, Habitual Levatations, via Pitchfork. The track in question is “The Welding”, which is also a song they have been playing live recently. The track begins with some metallic guitar scrapes and some slapped bass action that opens up into a swell of heavy grooves and extremely catchy hooks. The track, in true Intronaut fashion, eventually dissolves into an atmospheric, post-rock inspired section with ethereal vocals and all. “The Welding” is a very solid Intronaut song and increases my excitement for the new album.
Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words With Tones) will be released on March 9th via Century Media.
It looks like Intronaut have been jamming some new songs from their upcoming album, Habitual Levitations, live recently. Fan filmed footage from their shows in Austin, TX and Pensacola, FL captured the band performing songs “Sore Sight for Eyes”, “The Welding” and “Steps”. These songs sound really solid and hopefully hint at an equally solid album. Check out the footage below and pick up Habitual Levitations on March 19th.
I know a lot of you are excited for the upcoming Intronaut and to be honest, so am I. The band have released the dirty details on Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words With Tones) including the awesome artwork and the official track listing, which can be viewed below. In addition to their upcoming tour in North America with Meshuggah and Animals as Leaders, the band will be touring Europe in April with The Atlas Moth and Castle. Those dates can be viewed below as well as the music video for “Milk Leg”. Check it out.
The anticipated new single from Intronaut, “Milk Leg”, is now available for streaming at Invisible Oranges. The track shows the band in a low tuning, throwing out sludgy, almost Meshuggah like chugs while piling layers of atmospherics on top. The song eventually oozes seamlessly into a soothing, ambient clean section in the vein of post-rock that draws the song to a cinematic close. You can pre-order the one-sided 7″ at this location. Check out this song right meow!
Intronaut’s new full length, Habitual Levitations, will be released on March 19th.
