INTRONAUT Streaming New Track “Fast Worms”

Intronaut 2015

Californian progressive post-metal quartet Intronaut have premiered a new track from their forthcoming album, The Direction of Last Things, over at Metal Sucks. Titled “Fast Worms”, the seven-minute behemoth cycles between onslaughts of groove-laden tyranny, psychedelic melodies and smooth and complex jazz breaks. The new track can be streamed after the break.

On the recording process of the new album, guitarist Sacha Dunable comments:

“We decided that we don’t need to spend three weeks in a studio obsessing over every minute nuance. The reality is that in that past, we’ve taken that approach, but then we go on tour and play all those songs tightly. So why not just write the songs, rehearse the hell out of them, and then just go play them in an awesome recording studio? Intronaut is an actual band who rehearses together regularly. We make up one collective musical brain. There’s no reason why we couldn’t just have someone set up some mics, hit record, and capture that. We ended up making our best sounding record in a third of the time.”

The album’s artwork and track listing can also be viewed after the break.

The Direction of Last Things will be released on November 13 via Century Media.

INTRONAUT Announce 10th Anniversary Tour

Intronaut have announced a short string of tour dates in celebration of their 10th year anniversary as a band. The band will be supported by Anciients on most dates on the tour. The band had the following to say on the upcoming trek:

“We’re taking a break from writing a new record to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a band with this special run of shows. We haven’t finalized a set list yet, but expect at least one song from every release, and maybe a special guest or two to come out and help us play them. Joining us on these shows will be our Canadian friends Anciients, and the LA show will feature Ides Of Gemini, Silver Snakes, and The Great Wall.

We are also planning a couple special 10th Anniversary releases, hopefully to be available by this tour, so keep an eye out for that. Thank you to everyone who has supported Intronaut for these past 10 years! We love you forever.”

You can check out the dates after the break.

British progressive metal act TesseracT have announced a Spring North American tour in support of their most recent release Altered State. The band will be joined on most stops of the tour by the likes of Intronaut and Cloudkicker. The biggest news of all of this is that this will be Cloudkicker’s first live tour. Ben Sharp, the creator of Cloudkicker, will be joined on stage by the members of Intronaut to bring his music to life. On the tour, Sharp comments:

This just happened to be a time when Intronaut was free and, incredibly, I was able to get the entire month of April off from work. We have been in touch since 2010 and they had told me a few times that we could make this happen, but it wasn’t until last fall that I decided to give it an honest effort. Having the professionalism and technical proficiency of a band like Intronaut was the piece of the puzzle that finally encouraged me to pursue this since they are making it so easy for me. I know that when we show up for the first night of the tour everything will be locked in and we can just focus on having a good time.

Intronaut also weighed in:

When we first met Ben a few years back and discovered the Cloudkicker album “Beacons“, we unanimously fell in love with it and have since bugged him to let us be his band. Now it is finally happening. Intronaut is absolutely over the moon about this once in a lifetime opportunity for Cloudkicker fans to hear his stuff live. Sweetening the deal even further is the fact that we get to do the tour with our favorite British chaps in TesseracT. This tour is going to kick ass!

If you cannot read the tour dates in the above image, you can read them after the break.

Breath Of The Almighty: VATTNET VISKAR Release New Music Video

Mis amigos de black metal Vattnet Viskar have released their first music video for their song “Breath Of The Almighty” which comes off of their debut full-length Sky Swallower, out now on Century Media Records. This is a very interesting video, as it’s dark and very abstract. It’s weird, but I enjoyed it. Check it out below and be sure to pick up Sky Swallower right now! Vattnet Viskar will also be hitting the road with Intronaut for a short run. You can see those dates after the jump as well.     Continue reading

Review: INTRONAUT-“Habitual Levitations”

By Lane Oliver

Back in 2010, Intronaut brought the metal world the densely textured progressive heavyweight that is the critically lauded Valley of Smoke. The sludge-metal inspired grumbles of Void and Prehistoricisms were greatly expanded into vast musical feats full of cinematic progressive rock inspired moments with nice post-metal like creamy centers. Valley of Smoke is considered by some as Intronaut’s magnum opus because of the new explorative sound they indulged themselves in. But Intronaut are not done excavating the musical ruins of old to find new sounds to incorporate into their own as their new full length album Habitual Levitations demonstrates. On their fourth full length Intronaut further showcase their impeccable qualities as talented songwriters.
