I fucking adore New Hampshire’s Ramlord. That’s pretty much all I need to say. When they released their split with Cara Neir, I was completely blindsided. Even before that I was digging these dudes and I’ve been craving more from them. My wishes have been granted! Enter the awe-inspiring Crippled Minds, Sundered Wisdom. Continue reading »

It’s that time of year again: when we tell all of you folks what our favorite albums of 2012 were. Well, like last year I have compiled a few different lists and I wanted to start off with this one.
Who doesn’t love split albums? I mean, getting not one, but two bands on a single record is a thing of beauty. I listened a shit-ton of split albums this year and it was a pain in my ass narrowing down to only ten splits. This is what I have come to think of as the best split releases of 2012.
I started posting about around this time last year and I still love Cara Neir. Modern black metal done the right way, incorporating post-metal influences as well as gnarly grindcore and even… Stuff I can’t even comprehend. When Cara Neir and Ramlord released their split earlier this year I was blown away. When they also released their Sublimation Therapy EP this year I thought to myself, how the fuck can this band keep getting more and more awesome?
Are you a fan of filth and depravity? Dark and encompassing crusty black metal? Then this new split by Texas band Cara Neir and New Hampshire band Ramlord. This split completely destroys and both bands kill every single track. I got my hands on this album the other day and I love it. Definitely year-end list material. Definitely. Read on to check out my review of the Cara Neir/Ramlord split. [Continue...]
Ramlord are a band I have actually known for a while. I found them a while back while perusing Bandcamp as I always do and I fucking loved their sound. I don’t know why I never wrote about them before this, some crazy bullshit on my part, I’m sure. I was recently e-mailed by one-third of the band and it gave me a jump start and ushered me to finally write about this amazing band.
Ramlord has a great sound which mixes in blackened crust, blackened sludge and blackened grind. Yes, everything is blackened in Ramlord country. Filthy, dark and punishing, just the way it should be. No lie, this band fucking rips. They have a really lo-fi full-length available here and their split with Condensed Flesh, which is fucking unbelievable. You can check out those four songs below. Enjoy.
