Pulling Teeth and Ruiner) have released their new album, No Child Left Behind, out tomorrow on No Sleep Records, for full streaming over at their official bandcamp. Formerly intended to be a one-off joke project, the 2013 borne baseball-themed grindcore project Puig Destroyer (members of Thrice, Curl Up And Die and Kowloon City) have furthered their foray into the serious with the release of their debut self-titled LP, out today on No Sleep Records and currently streaming over at No Sleep’s official Soundcloud page and below. The appropriately 20 song, 24 minutes long effort is the band’s most refined effort to date, touching over subjects such as Halos’ MVP outfielder Mike Trout, former Angel outfielder Mark Trumbo and distaste for fantasy football shenanigans and was written in the hope that an additional twenty tracks of baseball-themed mayhem still makes “any sense to anyone”. Stream Puig Destroyer by Puig Destroyer below and pick up the record on digital download via No Sleep Records here. Continue reading
Los Angeles-based EBM/Industrial group Youth Code are currently streaming their latest EP, A Place To Stand, in full over at Pitchfork. Consisting of four new original tracks and four remixes of past material by CLIPPING, Sanford Parker of Corrections House, God Module and Silent Servant, the newly Josh Eustis (Nine Inch Nails, Telefon Tel Aviv, Sons Of Magdalene) produced EP by the frenetic electronic duo sees the group expanding their soundscape to include more melodic synths and layered, complex rhythms, in addition to a brief varied vocal approach on the A-Side closer “A Litany (A Place To Stand)” which trades the group’s usual harsh vocals for an expanded spoken word diatribe. Stream A Place To Stand via Pitchfork here and pre-order the record via Dais Records here, due September 23rd.
Concurrently, Youth Code are due for a record release show on the same date at The Complex In Glendale, with support by High-Functioning Flesh and Them Are Us Too. The duo will also support VNV Nation and Skinny Puppy with Haujobb late Fall on the month-long Alliance Of Sound Tour. Full details for those live dates are provided below.

The strange Los Angeles metallic hardcore ensemble Twitching Tongues are currently streaming a new “live” album entitled World War Live exclusively over at Decibel Magazine. Recorded live with an audience of twenty sum members, the dichotomous fake/real record(with art by Sean Taggart (Crumbsuckers, Agnostic Front)) simultaneously functions as a best-of album for the group with jokes, cameos and easter eggs that followers of California hardcore will be able to pick out. The band’s official statement for the record is as follows:
Recorded live in the Van Nuys stadium called THE PIT in front of twenty screaming fans, this is (not) a true testament to the event that occurs when this band hits the stage. The band was tired of hearing “they’re better live,” so here it is. With a setlist comprised mostly of songs from their latest LP, In Love There Is No Law, as well as previous material, the record almost doubles as a best-of the band’s current stage. The album cover was made by the legendary Sean Taggart (Carnivore, Crumbsuckers, Agnostic Front) and hardcopy buyers will regret their purchases slightly less with the addition of bonus material.
Stream World War Live here and pre-order the physical record, which promises extra material, via Closed Casket Activities here. Alternatively, attendees of this year’s This Is Hardcore festival can purchase the record from Closed Casket before everyone else gets it shipped.
