The eclectic alternative band, The Men, have released the official details for their upcoming record. The new album will be titled New Moon and will see the light of day on March 5th via Sacred Bones Recordings. Before that becomes available, The Men will be releasing a 7″ on January 22nd that will contain the track “Electric” (which can streamed below) and the non album track “Water Babies”. Below you can find the official track listing, the song “Electric” and well as The Men’s upcoming tour dates in Europe and Australia, a stop at Austin, Texas’s Chaos in Tejas and a few other U.S. dates.

This year has been more than gracious to my ears. I was fond of so many releases in 2012 that it was like pulling teeth trying to narrow this list down to JUST thirty. Since albums have the tendency to grow on me, this list was compiled without review ratings in mind, if I had a chance to review them that is. These thirty albums are the records that I continued to revisit throughout the year and have yet to stop jamming. These are the records that are still fresh and exciting upon the umpteenth listen. Without further adieu, these are my favorite albums of the year.

Brooklyn’s alternative/punk act The Men have announced a string of new tour dates that will take the band through a few states in the US, Europe and Canada. The band will be performing new material from their upcoming album that should be out Spring of next year via Sacred Bones. The Men are busy little punkers! They just released their third full length Open Your Heart back in March and they have already begun booking studio sessions for a new album. They will also be booking a extensive summer tour so be on the look out for dates. This band have yet to disappoint me so I am anxious to see what they do on this new record.

After listening to The Men’s last album, Leave Home, I was intrigued by how much range they had as songwriters. Every song on that album was different than the last. So when I heard that they were releasing another album this year, I had high expectations for variety. Well, Open Your Heart definitely met my expectations.

Oh yes. The Brooklyn punk band, The Men have announced that they will be releasing a new album on March 6th. The album is called Open Your Heart (artwork and track listing above). I listened to their album they put out this year, Leave Home, and I was fairly impressed by it. So, I am excited for this album to drop. Also, the band has announced a few tour dates including a date at SXSW in Austin, TX (which I will be attending).

With a band name like “The Men” you may be questioning what you are getting yourself into before even listening to it. I know I did. It’s definitely not the most creative band name in the world. But you should never judge a book by its cover. The Men are a punk/post-punk band hailing from Brooklyn. Leave Home is their most recent release and it is interesting to say the least.
